Mott MacDonald is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in the rail and transit realms. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer Rail and Transit engineer to complement our team and assist with infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients. This role would also be embedded with our client directly.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Design Rail infrastructure including track and alignment design
  • Prepare calculations, technical documentation, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Engage as part of large multidisciplinary teams and review design documents for consistency and coordination
  • Engage in verbal and written communications with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Build and harbor good working relationships with our business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients
  • Training team members in technical software and collaboration tools, design coordination workflows
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals
  • Conduct design work independently and provide guidance to junior staff

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University
  • 5+ years progressive design experience in rail alignment and trackwork design
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain a PE within 12 months is preferred 
  • Proficiency in using Bentley (Bentley Rail Track, OpenRail) Software Design Packages
  • Experience in rail alignment and trackwork design for Class I Railways is preferred
  • Proactive self-starter who’s also flexible and able to adapt and learn
  • Confident and positive attitude
  • Desire and flexibility to travel
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Pre-employment and ongoing, random drug testing is required
