The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to the UK and Ireland's water and wastewater challenges. The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations, preventing urban flooding, and improving the health of our rivers and coastal environments. Our multidisciplinary teams provide a variety of services throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies to outline and detailed design. We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover. To help us to meet the growing needs of our clients, we have opportunities for experienced BIM Technicians in our offices in Reading and Bristol.
If you’re enthusiastic about creating precise 3D models, construction drawings, and design deliverables for water and wastewater projects, this role is perfect for you! As a BIM/Revit Coordinator, you’ll work closely with our Clients and manage BIM teams to transform design concepts into detailed engineering deliverables and build your skills and knowledge.
As a BIM Coordinator you will be involved with the development of BIM execution strategies /plans, planning of processes and implementation of tools to improve project delivery. Sometimes this might be working directly with our clients, other times this might be supporting our internal delivery projects. You will be an advocate for digital ways of working, a promoter of good information management and comfortable working closely with our clients to share our experience. You will be actively involved in selecting and briefing a project team, assessing risk, preparing a project budget and the initial plan of work. You will also be responsible for selecting delivery methodologies.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Management and coordination with key stakeholders and interfacing teams
- Leading the BIM delivery
- Compliance with the Mott MacDonald management, quality, safety and environmental system requirements
- Coordinate and manage contract requirements (industry standard & bespoke contracts)
- Successful management of the client relationship, managing feedback, managing scope change and client expectations
Candidate specification
Experience in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects from concept to construction. Ideally you will have previously worked within a design consultancy on major / multiple concurrent complex projects and are comfortable liaising with Clients. You understand the impact that digital tools have on the design and construction phase of projects. You understand the design process, design risk management, construction programming, tendering process and quality assurance management. You will need to have strong leadership qualities.
Qualifications and experience:
- Degree or Diploma: relevant qualification in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
- BIM Proficiency: candidate must hold relevant experience with Autodesk AutoCAD / Revit / Civil 3D and be able to independently develop detailed 3D models. Experience / exposure using Autodesk Plant 3D or Navisworks
- Candidate must hold relvant experience in working with point cloud / LiDAR and topographical surveys, including modelling with data format provided
- BIM Coordination Experience: Candidate must hold relevant experience in managing multi-discipline design Common Data Environments (CDEs) such as ProjectWise and Autodesk Construction Cloud, ensuring folder structure, workflows, reviews and user permissions are correctly aligned to company / client requirements. Candidate should also have experience in clash detection and federated model creation / management
- Information Management Experience: Candidate must hold relevant experience in creating BIM Execution Plans (BEP) in response to client Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and have a good working knowledge of ISO-19650 and how that applies to BIM. Relevant experience in information exchange formats (DWG, IFC, NWD etc.) and utilising of TIDPs, MIDPs and associated Responsibility Matrix would be beneficial
- Experience in MS Excel, Power BI, Dynamo are desired but not essential as training can be provided
- Project Experience: experience as a BIM Coordinator in Water, Wastewater or civil infrastructure would beneficial
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to modelling and documentation
- Familiarity with industry standard tools and technologies used during the delivery phase
- Strong communication, team working and problem-solving skills
- Must be an enthusiastic, motivated self-starter dedicated to learning and advancing their career in the Digital Engineering space
- Team Player: ability to work in a team or independently and effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
