Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- As our Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical engineering team, setting the technical standard and approach, and acting as the main point of contact for all electrical inputs to bids and projects. You will also be responsible for the pastural care, recruitment, training and development of our electrical team in Riyadh.
- You will be responsible for our interaction with the wider Mott MacDonald global electrical community through our practices, bringing the latest innovation and ways of working to the team, and promoting the exciting work we are doing in KSA to colleagues around the world.
- You will act as resource manager for the electrical team in support of the Technical Director, with the goal of maximising utilisation by working with other electrical principals from around the business to share resources as required. You will also input to resource forecasting, recruitment and succession planning.
- On small projects containing significant electrical scope you may act as project manager and deliver projects in line with Mott MacDonald’s business management system.
- In addition to your team management responsibilities, you will retain a hands-on approach to the technical delivery of projects including: -
- Leading the development and checking of relevant electrical technical specifications and procurement items.
- Conducting primary technical reviews on design packages and client processes related to electrical equipment/system design and calculations. Prepare, review, and check technical reports on findings.
- Ensuring tendering packages comply with client requirements, project schedules, and laws and regulations.
- Reviewing vendor documentation to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Evaluating and advising on electrical design changes and non-conformances.
- Developing required documentation for the review process, including comments, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
- Controlling the checking and reviewing to meet project, company, and client specifications for safe design.
- Communicating with stakeholders at a technical level to get designs and documentation approved by authorities.
- Ensuring electrical equipment installation activities are performed in accordance with engineering design requirements, project contract agreements, schedules, and Safety and Quality Standards.
To be considered for this key role within Mott MacDonald the technical skills, qualifications and experience required for this position include:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university.
- Chartered or Incorporated member of the IET, or equivalent, with extensive experience in water and wastewater treatment and primary infrastructure design.
- Experience in working on water/wastewater treatment projects throughout feasibility stage, outline and detailed design, construction supervision, and preferably operation/optimisation/commissioning. Experience of working on dry utilities infrastructure projects shall be considered an added advantage.
- Must have experience in managing, checking, and approving design documents and drawings associated with the design of electrical power supply (HV, LV) and electrical plant design within the water sector.
- Demonstrate key skills in:
- Water and wastewater pumping station design, including control philosophy.
- Desalination plant design.
- Design for electrical plant (motors, MCC, power supply).
- Design of electrical power supply (HV & LV).
- Detailed knowledge of electrical design software such as AMTECH, ETAP, CYMCAP.
- Checking and reviewing electrical contract documents, calculations, drawings, and reports.
- Detailed knowledge of electrical specifications and datasheets.
- Detailed understanding of P&ID’s.
- Checking and reviewing ICA contract documents, control philosophy, and reports.
- Detailed knowledge of ICA specifications and datasheets.
- Detailed knowledge of testing and commissioning (FAT & SAT).
- Flexibility to travel across the MME region. #LI-SA2
