Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Lead the development and checking of relevant mechanical technical specifications and procurement items.
- Conduct primary technical reviews on design packages and client processes related to mechanical equipment/system design and calculations. Prepare, review, and check technical reports on findings.
- Ensure tendering packages comply with client requirements, project schedules, and laws and regulations.
- Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Evaluate and advise on mechanical design changes and non-conformances.
- Develop required documentation for the review process, including comments, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
- Provide direction and oversight of project controls, ensuring your team understands and complies with quality, programme, and cost requirements.
- Mentor and develop staff in design, using leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and create effective working environments. We employ brilliant people, and we trust them to do brilliant things.
- Control the checking and reviewing to meet project, company, and client specifications for safe design.
- Communicate with stakeholders at a technical level to get designs and documentation approved by authorities.
- Ensure mechanical equipment installation activities are performed in accordance with engineering design requirements, project contract agreements, schedules, and Safety and Quality Standards.
Candidate Specification:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university.
- Chartered member of the IMechE, or equivalent, with extensive experience in water and wastewater treatment and primary infrastructure design.
- Experience in working on water/wastewater treatment projects throughout feasibility stage, outline and detailed design, construction supervision, and preferably operation/optimisation/commissioning. Experience of working on dry utilities infrastructure projects shall be considered an added advantage.
- Must have experience in managing, checking, and approving design documents and drawings associated with the design of water, waste-water and RO desalination systems.
- Demonstrate key skills in:
- Pressure system hydraulics including establishing system curves and pump selection.
- Preparing water sector mechanical equipment specifications and data sheets for procurement
- Equipment layout design from initial space proofing to detailed design and supply chain integration.
- Pipework layout design and specification.
- Contribution to the geometry of hydraulic structures, plant and building layouts, control philosophies and P&IDS.
- Checking and reviewing mechanical contract documents, calculations, drawings, and reports.
- Detailed knowledge of industry and regional specifications and standards.
- Experience of tender evaluation and selection, and management / integration of sub-contract design.
- Detailed knowledge of testing and commissioning (FAT & SAT).
- Experience of design review and development using 3D design tools.
- Flexibility to travel across the MME region. #LI-SA2
