Senior Principal Civil

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Principal Civil will work on infrastructure projects that will include a wide range of civil engineering disciplines that will include highways, utilities, retaining walls, bridges and cut and cover tunnels, and will be tasked with managing, coordinating and ensuring quality of all design activities associated with projects for Transportation and Land Development Schemes within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In addition, to leading projects, there will be a requirement to support on work winning activities that include proposals and potential business development activities.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Technically lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve the project requirements,
- Ensure compliance with the Mott MacDonald’s Business Management Systems on all projects and proposals,
- Act as the Project Technical Lead on projects, ensuring Technical Excellence and quality is delivered on projects,
- Undertake technical reviews on projects and provide feedback where required to ensure successful delivery
- Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, may act as the Project Manager or Project Principal and undertake the required duties for that role,
- Day to day management/coordination of all design engineering activities, including stakeholder management, budget control and reporting,
- Lead and maintain liaison with Contractor’s/Client’s representatives for all design activities, being the first point of contact for technical issues,
- Establish project processes and procedures for management of projects, including but not limited to clear communication procedures, information management requirements, deliverable management, quality control, contract compliance, requirement management, review and approval of deliverables,.
- Produce and manage Project and/or Design Management Plans and ensure its continuing effectiveness,
- Establish design progress control processes, change control, adherence to time schedules, allocation of resources and reporting on projects and present to the internal project team and Client’s representative,
- Assess staff competency for project activities,
- Act as a role model and provide on the job training to early career professionals,
- Identify risks and opportunities associated with design activities, identify mitigation items and ensure that these are communicated to the Project Manager and Project Principal regularly,
- Develop the capabilities of the team within Saudi Arabia,
- Harness and leverage global design centres in delivering projects
- Ensuring Mott MacDonald’s best practices are implemented in an effective and economic manner.
Candidate specifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar relevant engineering discipline,
- Professionally qualified with an internationally recognised Engineering Institution, CEng status is preferred,
- Experience in delivering, managing and leading a wide range of Civil Engineering disciplines is preferred,
- Profeen of engineering experience,
- Proven experience in a senior role on Civil Engineering projects or organisational responsibility with leading a team,
- Proven experience in producing or leading the production of proposals for a variety of Civil Engineering projects,
- Proven experience in undertaking roles where responsible for interfacing with or managing project Client relationships,
- Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in growing a team, either on a project or in an organisational capacity,
- Familiarity with a variety of international design standards. Demonstrated experience with learning and adapting to new design standards through various projects and experience is preferred,
- Previous experience within a consultancy environment specifically within the transport industry is preferred,
