About the business unit:
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
About the role:
In recent years, Mott MacDonald’s Nuclear division, part of the Energy unit, has been assembling a robust team of architects and engineers at their Sofia office. Our focus is on delivering highly specialized multidisciplinary design services for the energy, high-hazard, and life science industries. The Sofia team aims to be a trusted partner across regions and units within the Mott MacDonald landscape, fostering long-lasting client relationships through innovation and professional expertise. Given our increasing workload and exciting prospects, we are actively seeking a Project Architect to join our team.
As you report to the lead architect, your involvement in project-related tasks will include:
- Developing architectural designs within a BIM environment
- Producing detailed design drawings and documentation for tendering and construction purposes
- Coordinating with disciplines to ensure a unified design approach
- Preparing comprehensive building description reports
- Creating visual representations of architectural designs
- Developing immersive, interactive virtual tours to experience the architectural solutions
- Crafting compelling presentations to effectively communicate architectural concepts and designs
- Assisting in the development of project technical specifications and model-based quantity take-offs
- Providing regular updates to the lead architect on the progress of deliverables across all project stages
- Reporting on work progress to the lead architect to ensure deadlines are met within the allocated man-hours
Candidate Specification:
- Project Experience: Experience with industrial and/or commercial projects is desired. International experience will be highly valued.
- Specialized Experience: Having worked on Pharmaceutical and Nuclear projects would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Revit and BIM Proficiency: Proficiency in using Revit and utilisation of BIM technologies in all project stages is a must.
- Architectural Practice Skills: Possession of well-rounded general architectural practice skills is expected.
- Understanding of CDE and ISO 19650: A good understanding of the concept of Common Data Environment (CDE) as implemented in Autodesk Construction Cloud, and information management principles based on ISO 19650 is required.
- Construction Knowledge: A first-rate understanding of construction techniques and current Building Regulations is necessary.
- Teamwork and Communication: An amiable approach to teamwork and effective communication skills are important.
- Work Ethic: A thorough and organized working method is expected.
- Problem-Solving and Professionalism: A problem-solving mindset and a professional attitude are essential.
- Graphic Design, Presentation, and Architectural Visualisation Skills: Strong skills in graphic design, presentation, and architectural visualisation, including VR, are also an advantage.
- Continuous Professional Development: A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of architecture
- Interest in Automation and AI: An interest in implementing automation in the design process, including the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), is highly valued.
- Language Proficiency: Working proficiency in English is required.
