About the business unit  
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

 


Overview of the role
Due to new project wins and continued growth, we’re looking for Assistant HVAC Engineer to join our Nuclear: Defence and Civil division. This role offers exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects across the defence and nuclear new-build industries worldwide. As part of our growing team, you will contribute to high-profile engineering challenges while developing your career within an international organisation committed to supporting your professional growth. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of the Nuclear HVAC field, delivering impactful projects for some of the industry’s most prominent clients.

 

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Produce detailed design calculations to support design requirements
  • Producing documentation, assessment/condition reports, survey reports, basis of designs, procurement specifications, etc
  • Production and review of detailed design calculations to support design proposals
  • Production and review of detailed design drawings, layouts and schematics including heating, ventilation, LTHW, Chilled Water, specialist LEV and BMS installations using Revit (BIM) and CAD software
  • Experience in the delivery of written work, e.g. functional Specifications, Basis of Design, Equipment Specifications and Validation and Verification plans
  • Producing estimates of work elements including equipment and man hour costs
  • Supporting the preparation of bids and estimates
  • Ensure compliance with construction (design and management) regulations
  • Conduct thorough research to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Coordinate seamlessly with other disciplines, fostering a holistic approach to project delivery

 


Candidate specification
Essential:

  • Experience in HVAC Design
  • Skilled in Revit (BIM modelling), AutoCAD and MS Office suites
  • Experience in using design software like Carrier HAP (Hourly Analyses Program), IES VE simulation software and similar is highly valued. Also, manufacturers selection software
  • Experience within a highly regulated environment is advantageous (Nuclear preferable but will consider other relevant experience). Preferably knowledge & experience in nuclear containment ventilation design
  • Familiar with industry standards, legislation, and engineering principles, ideally including knowledge of nuclear ventilation guidelines and standards will be appreciated
  • An interest in implementing automation in the design process and interest in developing the CFD models for cases in the HVAC field is highly valued 
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate across borders
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Initiative and self-motivation to learn and develop in the field
  • Working proficiency in English is required
  • International experience will be highly valued

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s (Bachelor’s) degree in mechanical HVAC engineering or related field (essential)
  • Registered License Engineer or working towards license registration to relevant professional body is advantageous
