About business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of the role:
As a Mechanical Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, designing HVAC systems that power the world’s most critical projects. Reporting to the lead engineer, your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, ensuring seamless project execution and sustainable solutions.
- HVAC System Design: Dive into the heart of infrastructure by designing HVAC systems. From load calculations to selecting chillers, boilers, air handling units, ductwork, and piping, you’ll shape the backbone of our projects
- Energy Efficiency: Leverage specialized software to conduct mechanical system design calculations and energy analysis. Your insights will drive efficiency and sustainability
- Precision Documentation: Create meticulous design documents using REVIT (BIM) and CAD. Your attention to detail will ensure flawless execution
- Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with other disciplines, fostering a holistic approach to project delivery
- Code Compliance: Conduct thorough research to ensure compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will keep us on the cutting edge
- Comprehensive Reporting: Prepare detailed HVAC description reports, providing clarity and transparency
- Project Development: Assist in developing technical specifications and model-based quantity take-offs, contributing to project success
- Timely Delivery: Reporting progress to the lead engineer, you’ll ensure deadlines are met within allocated man-hours
Candidate specification:
Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate across borders
- Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD and MS Office suites
- Experience in using the specialized software like Carrier HAP (Hourly Analyses Program), the IESVE simulation software and similar is highly valued
- An interest in implementing automation in the design process and interest in developing the CFD models for cases in the HVAC field is highly valued
- Working proficiency in English is required
- Experience in HVAC Design
- International experience will be highly valued
Qualifications:
- Master’s (Bachelor’s) degree in mechanical engineering or related field (essential)
- Registered Engineer license is advantageous
- Experience in Industry sector is advantageous
- Experience in Nuclear sector is advantageous
- Familiarity with regulations, codes, standards, and design guidelines
