Your Opportunity  

We are seeing immense opportunities in the Australian market to leverage our global skills and relationships, coupled with local leadership and delivery, to deliver positive social and sustainable outcomes across our communities. 

We have identified an exciting leadership role for a Technical Director Environment to join us in our Sydney office. This Technical Director level role will build and identify new business opportunities - with a focus in the Energy, Water and Transport markets - and convert prospects into projects. The role will work closely with our Australian Environment & Society Market leadership team setting the strategic direction and maturing our approvals offering across our Australian business. 

As a Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and business development in our environmental offering, with an initial focus on NSW. This role would also collaborate with senior colleagues across our Australian business to provide services across other markets including transport, defence, urban planning, and water. 

 

Your key roles and responsibilities will involve: 

 

  • Leveraging existing client relationships and building new relationships to build and identify new business opportunities to secure environment and approvals work from key clients across energy, water and transport sectors. 

  • Collaborate with our market and account leaders to bring the best of Mott MacDonald to our clients 

  • Bring a depth of NSW experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure projects in energy, transport, water and / or social infrastructure markets as required. 

  • Management of approvals projects across the project lifecycle from proposal through to delivery on projects. 

  • Collaborate with interstate team members as part of business development and project delivery to deliver a nationally consistent client experience and quality. 

  • Contribute to promotion of our Environment & Society capability within the industry. 

  • Mentoring and guiding junior staff members within the team 

  • Ability to manage and coordinate relationships with sub-consultants to successfully deliver major projects.  

 

About you 

 
You will have prior experience within the consultancy industry, working with multi-discipline teams on complex projects. At this level you can bring and establish long term positive client relationships in the Energy market and secure work from our current key clients. 

 

We would love to hear from you if you have: 

 

  • An Inclusive leadership style 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, planning or similar.  

  • Experience in impact assessment or regulatory approvals for energy projects.  

  • Knowledge and experience of State and Commonwealth legislation and regulations 

  • Proven history in identifying, winning and delivering projects.  

  • Experience in a consulting environment with business development and client relationship skills. Deep industry connections and the ability to influence and develop strong relationships, particularly in the energy sector and on renewable energy projects.
