Mott MacDonald Canada is delivering several major infrastructure projects nationwide and is seeking an Intermediate Civil Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will support a range of infrastructure assignments for both public and private-sector clients. Based in our Toronto office, you’ll work with clients across Canada and the US while also collaborating on global projects with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and leveraging our international expertise.

 

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Prepare general arrangement and detailed design drawings for roadways, rail, grading, drainage, utilities, and land development projects.
  • Develop and refine Civil 3D models and produce high-quality 2D drawings and plans as required.
  • Perform basic design calculations to support engineering solutions.
  • Apply rigorous quality control procedures, including self-checking and coordination reviews, and manage the issuance of deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment and consistency across design packages.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in both written and verbal interactions.
  • Utilize BIM and digital collaboration tools to support efficient information management and project delivery.
  • Support and mentor team members in the use of technical software, collaboration tools, and coordinated design workflows.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Diploma or degree from an accredited program in Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or Engineering CAD/BIM Technology.
  • ASET registration as a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist (or eligibility to obtain).
  • 5–10 years of experience supporting linear infrastructure and/or site development projects.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software, including Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and/or Bentley (OpenRoads, OpenRail).
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to proactively identify project needs and resolve technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated interest in digital delivery and continuous learning, with a willingness to adopt new tools and workflows.
  • Solid understanding of drafting standards, techniques, and engineering practices, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Confident and positive attitude.
  • Ability to build and harbor good working relationships with our business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients.
  • Ability to conduct their work independently.
  • Flexibility to travel if required within North America.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $94,000 - $115,000.
