We are currently seeking a highly motivated Principal Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team of professionals in our Toronto location. You will work in a professional environment with an established building services team where you will be offered the opportunity to work on an exciting range of projects and to continue your professional development.
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, working as an integral part of the Built Environment (buildings and facilities) team, your duties will include but not be limited to the following:
- Responsible for all aspects of assigned project work with an established team.
- Take the lead in the overall preparation and submission of design and coordination of electrical systems using digital tools to streamline efficiency and improve outcomes.
- Guide junior members of the team and act as a technical mentor.
- Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines, such as civil, structural, mechanical, transportation, and general infrastructure as part of delivering projects keeping sustainability and decarbonization in front of mind.
- Management of internal and external stakeholders.
- Support senior managers running the commercial and contractual side of projects.
- Support managers identifying new business opportunities and involvement in bids/tenders etc.
- Offer consultative service to clients exceeding expectations and delivering first-class service.
- Liaise with existing and new clients.
- Prepare and make technical presentations.
- Monitor progress on assigned projects.
- The ideal candidate will also be willing to contribute to projects within other sectors and offices, as required.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in designing, leading, and managing building services projects, including Medium and Low Voltage Power Distribution, Emergency Power, Fire Alarm Systems, Security Systems, Audio Visual Systems, Lighting, Lightning Protection, Grounding & Bonding, Communications, Instrumentation & Control.
- PEO license, or eligibility for licensing as a P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario is required.
- Strong knowledge of local and national codes and other legislative requirements.
- Experience in the design of electrical systems for one or more specialty sectors, such as aviation, rail & transit, healthcare facilities, institutional facilities, industrial, sports/recreational facilities, etc. would be an asset.
- LEED Certification would be an asset.
- Experience in mentoring and leading project teams.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
- Keen interest in delivering projects using BIM methods and technology-driven solutions.
- Proficient in the use of typical office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and other comparable such programs including the desire to utilize the full capabilities of Office365.
- Proficient in design engineering software such as Power System Studies software ETAP and SKM Power*Tools and lighting analysis software like AGi32.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships with clients and project teams.
- Willing and able to travel within Canada and internationally as required to support projects.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
The expected salary range for this position is from $140,000 - $175,000.
