Mott MacDonald is the consultant of choice for a wide range of power clients. We offer world-leading engineering services across the realm ofpower deliveryincluding owner's engineering anddetaileddesign. We're looking fora Senior Engineer to join our Substation Physical team. You will provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with experienced and knowledgeable team of engineers and designers. 

 

As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:  

 

  • Lead the preparation, review, and management of technical documentation for substation projects encompassing conceptual and detailed design, specifications, and studies.  

  • Produce thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and drawings.  

  • Effective planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of work activities with other multi-discipline project team members.  

  • Review the design work completed by his/her peers and ensure compliance with scope and QA/QC requirements.  

  • Accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, policies, and procedures.  

  • Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department.  

  • Contribute to continual development of internal engineering standards, tools, and work processes.  

  • Provide technical support and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.  

  • Supporting business planning, development, and training.  

  • Manage projects through design and construction including RFI response, equipment submittal reviews, and coordination meetings. 

 

You are a team player who is comfortable liaising with stakeholders internally and externally with an exceptional ability to communicate orally and through written correspondence. You have a strong work ethic and take pride and accountability in your duties and accomplishments as an individual. You are a multitasker who can work on multiple projects at once. You enjoy fast-paced, dynamic projects and teams, and have the following qualifications.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with (8+) years of substation design experience.  

  • Registered Professional Engineer  

  • 12+ years’ experience utilizing AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Primtech to produce and edit design drawings.  

  • Substation design experience.            

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.   

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (particularly Word and Excel)                                

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.                                               

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to adhere to product quality while balancing time spent.  

  • Works well both in team environment and working individually on projects.
