Mott MacDonald has an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Designer / BIM Specialist to work on Built Environment (Buildings and Facilities) related projects in Canada and assist in planning, design and construction of commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental, transportation, and general infrastructure projects.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Work within an electrical engineering team or in a BIM team in a multi-disciplinary, time sensitive environment with changing priorities.

Take personal responsibility to assure that your work is completed on time, on budget, and within the quality standards of the firm.

Collaborate with and support Project Managers and Project Engineers to meet all technical and commercial aspects of assigned projects.

Work with other disciplines and offices within Mott MacDonald.

Working in accordance with company policies and developing personal goals and objectives.

Assist Project Managers with project documentation and project management tasks to support analyses of activities, costs, and operations.

Seek opportunities to learn, grow and enhance your stature within the BIM and electrical profession.

Lead junior BIM technicians, specifically in the electrical BIM design.
You will have experience in the built environment (buildings and facilities) market segment and possess the following skills and experience:

Minimum 8 years’ experience in BIM with a focus on electrical design.

Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Canadian Community College or equivalent.

BIM Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Canadian Institute or equivalent.

Experience in design of electrical services and systems such as: building services; power distribution; lighting; energy efficiency; coordination with mechanical systems; grounding and bonding; lightning protection; electrical substations and switchgear; low voltage switchgear; emergency power systems; fire alarm systems, voice and data networks, uninterruptible power supplies; mechanical equipment and control panels; cabling and raceways; for industrial, commercial and institutional low-rise and high-rise structures.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

Awareness of both new build and renovation/redevelopment/repurposing.

Experience in working with Canadian Electrical Code and Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

Experience in working with U.S. codes and standards would be as asset.

Experience in electrical design services for one or more specialty sectors (e.g. aviation, transit stations, hospitals) would be an asset.

Ability to work with minimal direct oversight and to deliver projects on-time and budget to the satisfaction of your line manager and supervisor.

Assuring the quality of your deliverables.

Ability to effectively communicate to internal stakeholders in a professional manner, both written and oral.

Positive ‘can-do’ attitude to working with colleagues and clients.

Adaptable to working within different client environments/cultures.

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Experience in drafting mechanical systems is a plus.
