As the Commercial representative on the project, the duties of the Project Commercial Manager will include
- Commercial/Contractual Management for major infrastructure projects.
- Manage and ensure implementation of commercial processes and procedures to deliver key commercial requirements for the business and achieve continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the contractors ensuring that all relationships are professionally and appropriately managed to provide commercial services to the Client to agreed standards.
- Ensure effective commercial management of contracts with contractors to agree and certify payments; disallowed cost; contract changes; analysis, negotiation and agreement of claims and settlement of final accounts.
- Lead commercial progress meetings with contractors.
- Support the resident engineering team and embed commercial practices and expertise on contracts and deliver a consistent approach for the management of commercial issues, ensuring that appropriate contemporaneous records are kept supporting commercial negotiations.
- Provide mentoring, training and development to the resident engineering team on administrative duties and responsibilities under the works contracts.
- Project budget/expenditure forecasting.
- Management of change control on behalf of the Client.
- Subcontract procurement approval.
- Subcontract final account approval.
- Estimating/pricing of new/ additional scope.
- Report writing for change/governance.
- All other post contract commercial requirements as necessary.
- In summary, the role is to satisfy the needs of our client at project level, whilst corporately helping to develop Mott MacDonald’s hydro power capability.
Candidate specifications
- 5-7 years of professional experience with relevant commercial management, project management or engineering degree, and experience in the following disciplines:
- Contract management / Contract administration
- Commercial management / Claims management
- Cost control / Project budgeting
- Project Management
- Procurement
- Project planning
- Estimating
Essential Skills/Requirements:
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Ability to prioritize and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work.
- Willingness to work overseas on international projects
- Technically and commercially aware able to deliver on all post-contract service delivery and to solve problems.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Effective time management - efficient and adding value to projects
- Customer focus - ability to engage in sound relationships with the customer project team
- The ability to communicate internally and externally with senior stakeholders with strong networking and influencing skills.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Significant experience in administering contracts and commercial strategies aligned to business drivers and operational goals.
- The ability to operate within a commercially sound governance model.

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $93,000 - $113,000
Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
