Mott MacDonald is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated project controls specialist to work on projects throughout the Vancouver area. In this role, you will assist the project management teams in tasks such as developing, monitoring, and updating project plans; forecast project costs; and provide analyses to support claims negotiations, assist with monthly and quarterly reports either of financial nature, progress related or both.

 

The responsibilities are as follows:

  • Undertake the cost control function for multiple infrastructure projects undertaken by Mott MacDonald
  • Develop and maintain project progress reporting to include the status of committed costs against approved budgets, including all financial and earned value reporting, in accordance with contract and business requirements
  • Review actual cost against baseline budgets and cost plans, perform variance analysis and communicate status on an ongoing basis to project teams, clients and other third parties
  • Implement, monitor and administer change control requirements including changes to project scope, budgets, contracts and schedule
  • Capture and monitor data to ensure accurate and reliable plans, cost, schedule, contract, pricing and invoicing information are in place and accurately and promptly reported
  • Create dashboard, summary reports, and presentations for management review
  • Reconcile and validate invoices and progress payments data from various information management system for Mott MacDonald, its subconsultants and other third parties
  • Review, distribute and track invoices and progress payments for Mott MacDonald, its subconsultants and other third parties
  • Support Project Managers in administration of subconsultant and third-party contracts
  • Interface and maintain liaison with clients, subcontractors and others on all cost control related activities

 

Candidate Specification:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position (e.g. project controls, scheduler, cost estimating, etc.) within a multi-discipline project environment
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector;
  • Experience working within a consulting engineering environment in Canada
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in STEMs (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) engineering, or construction management or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Excellent communicator (both oral and written) and skilled problem-solver with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount
  • Excellent time management skills while dealing with multiple competing deadlines
  • Experienced in maintaining project cost control systems (experience of a variety of systems would be an advantage)
  • Experience in supporting programs and projects with relevant experience in scheduling, deliverable and cost control for infrastructure and related projects (transit, highway, railroad)
  • Knowledge of scheduling (including either Microsoft Project Office and/or Primavera P6), capital cost estimating, risk management, and other contracts and procurement project control related activities
  • Understanding of, and experience in, budgeting, preparing cost control plans, cost reporting, progress and earned value reporting, including own organization and others
  • A high attention to detail and an ability to deal efficiently with priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Must be proficient with software such as: SharePoint, PowerBI, Excel, Word, MS Project, Bluebeam and other comparable such programs including the desire to utilize the full capabilities of Office365

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $79,000 - $96,000.
