Mott MacDonald is looking for a strategic advisor for the role of senior consultant who will manage and deliver multiple infrastructure advisory roles for both public sector and private sector clients.

 

The candidate will support the delivery of complex strategic advisory mandates across both public and private sector infrastructure portfolios. The role spans project leadership and delivery across strategic advisory with services covering business casing and economics, procurement advisory including alternative procurement approaches, due diligence, and asset management for infrastructure projects. Our advisory service offering requires our practitioners to have a balance of an analytical mindset with strong project management and risk based expertise to communicate concisely and confidently to senior levels of client organizations.

 

The candidate will bring experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, leading business cases, and providing robust analytical advice to support major investment decisions across a range of sectors.

 

 

Responsibilities will involve:

 

  • Lead and advise public sector clients on strategic procurement and capital investment decisions for complex infrastructure programs and projects, acting as a trusted advisor from planning through delivery.
  • Lead structured decision-making, options analysis, and business case development across a diverse portfolio of projects, providing clear, defensible recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
  • Support and lead the development and execution of procurement strategies and documentation, including alternative delivery models such as P3s, CMGC, and PDB, ensuring alignment with client objectives, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support client engagement and account management, including identifying opportunities, shaping pursuits, leading proposal development (scope definition, resourcing, work planning), and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Provide technical and quality leadership and support through the review and approval of reports, deliverables, and project audits.
  • Support and lead risk management for both client mandates and internal projects, proactively identifying, mitigating, and communicating risks related to scope, schedule, budget, and delivery.
  • Internal commercial accountability for project performance, including budget management, financial forecasting, and performance reporting, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and to contract.
  • Contribute to capability development and knowledge sharing including the development and dissemination of business case, project management, and advisory best practices within the Advisory team.
  • Contribute to regional and global business initiatives, supporting growth, service development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the advisory practice.

 

Candidate Specification:

 

  • Candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience will be considered for the role: 
  • A post-secondary degree and 7+ years of career experience related to engineering and/or infrastructure (including social infrastructure) development. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering complex infrastructure projects across sectors including transport, energy, water, health, and urban development.
  • Strong expertise in structured decision-making, economic modelling, and risk assessment.
  • Proven project management capability, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and stakeholder groups.
  • An understanding of a wide range of infrastructure procurement models and methods.
  • Experience in both delivery and assurance roles (e.g. independent project review, governance support).
  • Familiarity and experience of management consultancy with a focus on change management principles.
  • Comfortable chairing high profile meetings and facilitating workshops for clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing high-quality client-facing reports and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Highly self-motivated, able to work independently while contributing effectively within team environments.
  • Positive, adaptable, and collaborative approach aligned with delivering strong client outcomes.
  • Additional credentials in Project Management and PPP / project finance is considered an asset.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is from $120,000 - $152,000.
