We are looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Tunnel Engineer (Construction Support) to support an iconic construction project in Vancouver. In this position you will work alongside our geotechnical and structural engineers on local, national and global projects.
As a Tunnel Engineer (Construction Support), your responsibilities would include:
- Working as part of the construction engineering team in Vancouver, requiring collaboration with external and internal stakeholders, quality control, management of inputs from other team members.
- Working with the Engineer, Contracting Authority and Contractor to support overall project delivery of multiple elements of this critical project – in particular underground excavations.
- Providing full-time on-site construction engineering support, in particular reviewing submittals and requests for information, writing technical memos and reports to communicate your work, assessing rock support requirements, monitoring / responding to excavation performance, witnessing and providing sign off at construction hold points.
- Acting as part of a team of professionals, assisting with the coordination of work among other engineers and design staff.
- Supervising the work of more junior staff and providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development.
- Advancing the team’s capability by advancing technical excellence and digital innovation.
The right candidate is a versatile and creative thinker who can lead teams of engineers to provide practical solutions to complex problems.
The candidate must have the following experience:
- A strong academic background, with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Engineering (a Master’s degree would be considered an asset)
- 5-10 years of relevant industry / project experience, including experience in geological mapping (full-time site experience would be considered an asset).
- P.Eng designation required (or ability to obtain it within a short period of time)
- Experience of the implementation or construction of design solutions on construction sites.
- Experience with stability analyses / assessments, rock support design/verification, for structures in soft/hard rock.
- Proficient in the use of geotechnical software, including Rocscience packages (RS2, Unwedge, RS3), Leapfrog, Plaxis, GeoStudio etc.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and clients and nurture the development of junior staff.
- Ability and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others, including check and approval of key deliverables.
- Ability to work up to 10 hours per day, Monday to Friday, including evenings and night shift, we required by the project.

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $96,000 - $117,000.
Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
