Mott MacDonald, a leader in the engineering industry is seeking an experienced In House Consultant Construction Manager to join our team in Louisiana working on energy projects. You will be responsible for overall project/construction management duties for project in early design phase. As an IHC construction manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Site Assessment & Workspace Planning
    • Evaluate potential construction areas for workspace layout
  • Access & Logistics
    • Determine requirements for site access roads and temporary roadways
    • Assess entry/exit points for construction vehicles and personnel
    • Identify possible constraints due to landowner permissions, environmental restrictions, or terrain
  • Regulatory & Permitting
    • Support in reviewing permitting requirements related to site preparation
    • Coordinate with project team to ensure compliance with local authorities
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
    • Initiate basic HSE risk assessments for early site activity (e.g., surveying, geotechnical investigations)
    • Advise on HSE requirements for site access, traffic control, and temporary facilities
  • Utilities & Services
    • Identify existing utilities that may affect workspace layout or access
    • Plan for temporary utilities (water, power, communications)
  • Stakeholder Coordination
    • Liaise with landowners, local agencies, and project team members regarding access and early activity
    • Attend meetings to coordinate workspace requirements across disciplines
  • Site Investigations Support
    • Assist arranging logistics for geotechnical, environmental, or archaeological investigations
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Prepare preliminary plans and layouts for site establishment
    • Document site constraints and proposed solutions for review with project team

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or equivalent
  • At least 10-15 years of experience in construction management
  • Depth of managerial and engineering experience working on large infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients and contractors
  • Experience with claims management and resolution
  • Knowledge of control systems design, construction and start up/commissioning and testing
  • Experience of project management processes, from feasibility and design through to construction and close-out
  • Skills in structural engineering, geotechnics, and ports
  • Have the necessary drive to achieve their goals and deliver commercial success
  • Capability to work closely with a range of stakeholders is essential providing a pragmatic, effective and successful solution to engineering challenges any project may present
