We are looking for motivated construction managers with experience in municipal water, wastewater and/or tunnel construction in the Boston area. The candidate must possess a comprehensive knowledge of construction management principals as well as a solid understanding of the materials, methods, and practices utilized during a construction project. Candidates must be thoroughly familiar with all required contractual and technical aspects of municipal water and tunnel projects. Candidate should be able to manage multiple projects. This is a growth position with increasing opportunities for the right candidate.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Collaborating and providing project oversight for the owner by maintaining communications between Owner, Designer, and Contractor to deliver all projects on time, at or under budget, and to the owner’s expected standard of quality
- Being the primary project contact and maintaining a strong Owner relationship. Must Represent the Owners’ best interest in all project decisions
- Providing input concerning constructability and biddabilty during design and developing project construction schedules and budgets
- Overseeing Contractor’s compliance with all requirements of project design specifications and drawings via onsite inspection staff.
- Processing pay invoices, make appropriate recommendations to Owner on payment issues.
- Providing document control including processing all project correspondence, documents, and drawings. Prepare various technical reports
- Managing on-site inspection staff including project-specific teams of specialists including experts in scheduling, safety, cost estimating, design, quality assurance, value engineering, commissioning, construction inspection, risk management, and more.
- Providing appropriate responses and/or recommendations to and from the Owner. Consult with Engineering staff on all technical matters. Notify all parties of issues that impact critical path schedule.
- Negotiating Change Orders on behalf of the Owner, coordinated with the Design Engineer, as required.
- Conduct and coordinate project closeout and facility delivery.
- Assuming Leadership of construction management teams.
- Assisting with business development efforts and proposal preparation
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:
- PE required with the ability to get licensed in Massachusetts within six months
- CMAA Construction Managers in Training will be considered; Preference will be given to CMAA Certified Construction Managers.
- Previous construction management and/or resident engineering experience working with public agencies.
- Experience with overseeing major water and/or wastewater projects.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience with experience in managing municipal construction projects.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other appropriate degree desirable but not required.
- 5 to 10 years progressive experience in contract and construction administration of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Experience with pipeline rehabilitation and replacement.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including technical report writing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Primavera P-6, and Procore
- Scheduling experience a plus
- Military experience or Contractor experience considered
